Photo of sculpture by Angela Palmer
Goldilocks
07/02/2012

This sculpture by Angela Palmer is created from the data gathered to date by the Kepler telescope. It literally reproduces in three dimensions the chunk of sky the Kepler telescope has been trained on for the past three years. She writes, "I have plotted the planets according to their exact co-ordinates on 18 sheets of glass (each about 1metre square) with the 'goldilocks' planets depicted in opaque circles; each sheet represents 250 light years. I exhibited this next to print outs recording the extraordinary data. I worked on this with Dr Chris Lintott and Dr Alexy Karenowska at Oxford University.
