Kepler & James Webb Space Telescopes Stained Glass Window Project 2011 -- Bill Rabinovitch
Download Document
My homage to Johannes Kepler uses both art & science merging my paintings with cutting edge computer tools in achieving the look of a technically evolved stained glass window for the 21st century. Kepler as shown represents everyman contemplating finding habitable earths from the more than thousand planets discovered by the Kepler Space Observatory orbiting stars in our galactic neighborhood. By 2014 the James Web Space Telescope will leap frog Kepler to actually see continents & clouds on planets orbiting these stars -- something almost unimaginable. Perhaps Carl Sagan was right saying, "We are a way for the Cosmos knowing itself."

I continue my renaissance artist ideal of merging art & science while emphasizing the spiritually resonant art side. Early on I was project planner for the first OSO spacecrafts to study the sun. In 2009 Philip Glass did an opera about Kepler, the first radical astrophysicist, who in the 1600's said, as I paraphrase -- The heavenly motions are nothing but continuous song for several voices revealing the harmony of worlds.
Sincerely,
Bill Rabinovitch
