Marilynn Flynn: The Rigel System

THE RIGEL SYSTEM: This shows the star Rigel A setting over the parched, tortured landscape of a distant imaginary planet. Shells of gas surround the pulsating blue supergiant star. The planet has little atmosphere left, perhaps blown off by the stellar wind, which is allowing meteors to impact on the surface, leaving fresh craters. The other two stars in the system, Rigel B & C are also seen in the sky. ©1990
