Marilynn Flynn: Cat's Eye Nebula

CAT'S EYE NEBULA: This painting shows a pair of dying stars blowing off the gas bubbles that form the “Cat’s Eye Nebula”, NGC 6543. Seen in our constellation Draco, it is located in our galaxy 3,000 light years from Earth. The imaginary planet in this scene shows the effects of having had it’s surface and atmosphere blasted by the exploding stars. ©1998
