Lynette Cook: Insect Life on a Water World

Contact the artist for permission to use this image.

Insects are among the hardiest and most adaptable life forms known. It's possible that insects similar to those on Earth have evolved on exoplanets in their habitable zones. Here, alien dragonflies swarm near trees on a watery world with two moons.

Lynette Cook is a self-employed scientific illustrator who has focused on exoplanets and life in space throughout her professional career. She is a Fellow of the International Association of Astronomical Artists. More artwork by Cook is at http://extrasolar.spaceart.org.
